The Year’s End

Much happened in 2009–some of it good, some of it bad. But no matter the circumstances around us, we have it within our power to be happy and filled with joy. Too often the church is reactive to what happens to it. Instead, we should be a witness to the culture around us, sharing love, compassion, joy and peace.

We are not to let our emotions or our circumstances control us. But we also shouldn’t go to the extreme of the Vulcan’s who deny all emotion. Recognize it, determine if it is an appropriate emotion in your circumstance and express it–don’t bottle it up. Take the time to find reasons for happiness and thanksgiving in situations.  Make the best out of the year to come.

As we enter into a new year, may you live long and prosper.
