Morals of Clone Wars 1.3: Shadow of Malevolence

Moral: “Easy is the path to wisdom for those not blinded by themselves.”

An old Egyptian Bedouin saying goes: “A wise man never knows all; only fools know everything.”

The Bible is full of verses about wisdom. Proverbs is chock full of advice on wisdom and being wise. Largely, wisdom comes from outside ourselves. It comes from fearing God and seeking the knowledge of those wiser than you.

All too often, we miss out on becoming wiser because we think we know enough. The old joke goes that Moses wouldn’t have spent 40 years in the wilderness if he had listened to his wife and gotten directions (or read the map or whatever the version happens to be). Some of us have issues with trying to do things on our own, instead of reading instructions or asking for help. And sometimes we can get by, but we’re almost always better off when we seek out more wisdom.

Pride gets in the way all too often. Only when we can acknowledge our shortcomings can we improve. Only when we are aware of our lacking of wisdom can we grow wiser.

When we think we can accomplish everything on our own, we ultimately fail. Because only Christ can save us. Our own efforts are futile. Humility is the only way to gain salvation and wisdom.
