Morals of the Clone Wars 1.6: Downfall of a Droid

Moral: “Trust in your friends, and they’ll have reason to trust in you.”

With most relationships, it makes an impression if you make the first move. It also means that the action is more likely to be reciprocated. Give someone a gift; they’ll probably give you one in return. Help someone out, and they’ll be there when you need a hand. Hug someone, and the hug will be returned. Love someone, and you’re likely to find yourself being loved. Show that you trust them, and that in itself is reason enough for them to trust you.

Now, I’m not saying to “do unto others” for the sake of getting the favor returned. The Golden Rule is not “Do unto others so they will do unto you,” but “Do to others as you would like them to do to you” (Luke 6:31). It’s a way of viewing people–not a way of acting. See them as created in God’s image. Philippians 2:3 says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.”

We also have to be wise and discerning, not just trusting anyone without discretion. They key word is “friend.” You need to have a relationship first.

Christ does the same with us: He has faith in us before we have faith in Him, He accepts us before we accept Him, He loves us before we love Him.

So let us go about our day treating others the best we can. Let’s make the world a better place.
